Pay: $34.00-$38.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Project Specialist III is responsible for installing, programming, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing commercial electronic security systems, including access control and CCTV systems. This position executes the technical aspects of multiple projects, provides customer training and technical support, and works closely with project and operations teams to ensure quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction objectives are met. The role requires previous commercial security experience, strong programming and troubleshooting skills, and experience leading small technician teams. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, self-directed, and capable of managing technical responsibilities across multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, troubleshoot, repair, and service commercial electronic security systems and related equipment.

  • Perform wiring, termination, programming, and configuration of security and access control panels.

  • Commission new systems, analyze system performance, identify malfunctions, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.

  • Execute technical project activities, including programming, system startup, certification testing, customer training, closeout documentation, and ongoing technical support.

  • Troubleshoot complex commercial security systems and escalate highly complex technical issues when appropriate.

  • Coordinate with engineering personnel to resolve unusual system operation, maintenance, and warranty issues.

  • Identify potential project risks and communicate concerns to appropriate project stakeholders.

  • Assist with strategies to minimize project delays, control costs, and address deviations from project requirements.

  • Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Managers to coordinate project activities, evaluate work quality, and identify potential scope changes.

  • Lead and mentor teams of approximately 3-4 technicians on commercial projects.

  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians and assist with testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment for optimal performance.

  • Maintain professional customer communication and provide technical support and system training.

  • Recommend improvements related to system performance, installation techniques, work quality, and customer satisfaction.

  • Manage technical responsibilities across multiple projects with varying schedules and priorities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant commercial security systems experience.

  • Previous experience leading approximately 3-4 technicians on commercial projects.

  • Experience with commercial access control and CCTV systems.

  • Hands-on experience wiring, terminating, programming, and troubleshooting security and access control panels.

  • Experience with security platforms such as Schneider Electric Security Expert, Genetec, Lenel, or comparable systems.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve commercial electronic security system issues.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

  • Product-specific certifications, industry-specific certifications, or applicable licenses preferred but not required.

  • Experience or certifications with Software House, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Milestone, ONSSI, AXIS, or similar platforms preferred.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to safely use common hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Strong programming and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in customer-facing environments.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)

  • Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with overtime as needed.

  • Regular local travel to project sites is required, generally within approximately a two-hour radius.

  • Occasional travel to the Newberry, South Carolina area may be required.

  • Minimal overnight travel may be required.
