Job Details Location: Lyons, OR 97358 Job Title: CNC Operator Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: Day (training), may move to Swing shift after training Schedule: 7:00am – 4:00pm Mon‑Fri (overtime may be applicable) Wage Range: $26.15 - $30.15 per hour based on experience & certs Branch: MPP Plant Report To: Plant Manager / Shift Supervisor Status: Full‑time Job Summary The CNC Operator reports to the Plant Manager/Shift Supervisor and will provide support in programming, setting up, and operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine in support of manufacturing operations, specifically for the Mass Plywood Plant. The CNC Operator will maintain quality and safety standards pertinent to this machine center and maintain records for equipment supplies. This position will train on day shift, but may move to swing shift once training is complete. Responsibilities Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs. Load panels to be processed onto CNC table via overhead cranes. Verify settings by measuring positions and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; take measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.y Document actions by completing production and quality logs. Ensure regular attendance and punctuality. Other Responsibilities Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other branches within reasonable and related tasks. Physical Demands Standing for an extended period on concrete. Up and down stairs and on and off machinery. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequent walking, sitting, talking, or hearing. Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Qualifications High school degree or equivalent. Experience working with controls & large instrumentation. Ability to operate a crane & forklift, preferred but not required. Ability to maintain strict control over customer data files and revisions. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Highly effective attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with multiple logistics and other software programs including email, spreadsheets, word processing, etc. Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well with others; excellent team player. Good analytical, problem‑solving skills and math skills. Experience with inventory control. Experience with tooling. Strong conceptual skills. Experience with Microsoft Office 365. 2+ years of related work experience. Overhead crane experience preferred. Lift truck operator experience preferred. Benefits Highly competitive wage.
