Maintenance / Facility Engineering Manager Position Summary This is a new leadership position reporting to the Engineering Manager at Prysmian Group's Jackson, TN facility, which produces Datacom & OEM Assembly products. As the facility continues to aggressively increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs, we are seeking a Maintenance / Facility Engineering Manager to provide direction, leadership, and strategic oversight for the Maintenance Department. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability of plant equipment, supporting facility improvements, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence. Basic Function Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance / Facility Engineering Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of maintenance and facility activities through the effective management and utilization of the Maintenance Department. Key Areas Of Responsibility Include Preventive and predictive maintenance. Equipment repair and reliability. New equipment installation. Facility construction, modification, and repair. Maintenance department management. Environmental compliance. Regulatory requirements across local, state, and federal jurisdictions. Cost and budget management. The position is responsible for ensuring these activities are completed efficiently, safely, cost-effectively, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Equipment Reliability Direct the activities of the Maintenance Department to ensure all plant equipment is properly maintained and repaired with minimum downtime. Establish and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all plant machinery. Ensure preventive maintenance activities are executed according to schedule. Supervise the installation of new machinery and equipment. Inspect and approve new equipment prior to placing it into production. Maintain appropriate equipment records following installation and implementation. Coordinate maintenance priorities with Production Department Managers and Production Scheduling to align maintenance activities with manufacturing requirements. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall manufacturing performance. Facilities & Capital Projects Oversee building construction, modifications, repairs, and facility improvement projects. Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and facility infrastructure. Establish performance specifications for contractors and vendors. Solicit, evaluate, and approve vendor bids as appropriate. Monitor contracted work to ensure quality, performance, safety, and specification compliance. Manage special engineering and facility projects as required. Budget & Cost Management Develop, manage, and control the Maintenance Department budget. Monitor departmental spending and ensure resources are used effectively. Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance and facility costs while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability. Ensure maintenance activities support the facility's overall productivity and cost-reduction objectives. Safety & Compliance Enforce all applicable safety procedures and policies within the Maintenance Department. Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements. Support Health & Safety programs, including: Safety training. Record keeping. Reporting. Compliance activities. Environmental Responsibilities The Maintenance / Facility Engineering Manager will manage the facility's environmental program and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities Include Conduct routine environmental compliance audits. Complete required corporate and government environmental reporting. Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Monitor stormwater and wastewater discharge processes and prevention activities. Manage oil spill prevention and control activities. Oversee industrial solid waste activities. Maintain and update the Hazard Communication Program. Conduct routine inspections and audits. Maintain required environmental records and documentation. Serve as the facility expert for Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) activities. Leadership & Supervision The Maintenance / Facility Engineering Manager is responsible for the direction and leadership of all Maintenance Department associates. The role also provides leadership and oversight for the facility's environmental control efforts. Success In This Position Requires The Ability To Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team. Problem solving. Ability to serve as the facility expert on ESH activities. Desired Background 7-10 years of Maintenance Engineering experience. Project Management experience. Proven ability to work effectively in team-based environments. Experience in manufacturing maintenance, facility engineering, and environmental compliance. Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
