Dentist – Full Time, Permanent Yearly Salary: $174,768.00 - $235,056.00 The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join the Health Services team at Washington Corrections Center (WCC) located in Shelton, WA as a dentist. This position functions as a member of the Health Services Division and is responsible for performing dental procedures on incarcerated individuals at WCC. The dentist ensures that services provided are consistent with Department policies, the WA State DOC Health Plan, and DOC Dental Services protocols and guidelines. This position contributes to improved patient health and a reduction in criminal recidivism. A Completed Application Packet Will Include: A detailed resume A cover letter Three professional references Administrative and Clinical Supervision: Under the administrative supervision of the facility’s Health Services Manager and clinical supervision of the department’s Chief of Dentistry, DOC dentists provide medically necessary dental care to incarcerated patients. Dentists provide clinical supervision to dental assistants and dental hygienists consistent with Washington State laws (RCW, WAC) and department policies, protocols and health plan. Duties: Diagnostic Preventive Periodontics Endodontics Oral Surgery Prosthetics Operative Procedures Perform duties authorized by the WA State DOH in accordance with WA State laws (WAC & RCW) Delegate clinical duties to dental assistants and dental hygienists in accordance with WA State laws (WAC & RCW) Required Qualifications: Licensed Dentist in the State of Washington with a valid unencumbered Washington State license to practice as a Dentist Must have mandatory Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification Must possess an unrestricted DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances Must comply with health screening requirements, including tuberculosis testing, unless exempt by State Preferred Qualifications: Two years of clinical experience in dentistry Skilled in performing surgical extractions within the scope of a general dentist Knowledge of scheduling routine, complex, and specialty dental procedures Proficiency in computer applications and related technologies Experience providing dental services in a correctional environment or community/public health clinic Experience working within the constraints of a limited health plan and/or pharmaceutical formulary restrictions Important Notes: DOC complies with federal employment eligibility verification requirements. Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must include at least three (3) professional references mandatory. References must include contact details (phone and email). Background check including criminal record history will be conducted before hire. Employees may work directly with or near incarcerated individuals in a potentially hazardous setting. Self defense tools such as Oleoresin Capsicum aerosol pepper spray may be used. Must undergo respirator medical evaluation, fit testing, and mandatory respiratory protection training. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds under certain circumstances.
