Job Title Transportation Engineer I/II/III/IV/V – New Braunfels (2601212) Overview We are looking for a motivated Transportation Engineer to join our Central Design Section in New Braunfels. The role involves executing complex engineering work across a 12‑county region, including planning, project development, construction management, and research. The engineer will work independently, deliver high‑quality design products, and collaborate with governmental officials and private entities. Annual Salary Ranges Transportation Engineer I (B24): $65,104 – $106,634 Transportation Engineer II (B25): $69,572 – $114,099 Transportation Engineer III (B26): $76,530 – $129,430 Transportation Engineer IV (B27): $84,182 – $142,374 Transportation Engineer V (B28): $92,600 – $156,612 Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with design, computer operations, plan preparation and updates, project development, and survey requests. Perform engineering design work including development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates, and contracts. Update, review, and monitor changes to plans, manuals, and standard sheets. Develop and review engineering documents, correspondence, reports, and remediation plans. Analyze and assist in resolving construction issues, RFIs, and design related issues. Serve as a project manager overseeing consultants for advanced engineering work. Lead, assign, review, and monitor the work of others; serve as a project/team lead for highly complex projects. Lead and train professional and administrative staff. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related science. A higher degree is accepted by TX PELS. Experience: Full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent experience. Graduate‑level education may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis. Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license; position requires driving a state vehicle. Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. Engineers licensed in other U.S. states must obtain a Texas license within six months of hire and sign an agreement to that effect. Familiarity with design/preparation methods and requirements for hydrologic, hydraulic, and geotechnical engineering. Proficiency in Microstation and Open Roads Designer; Microsoft Excel experience required. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Subject to outdoor environmental conditions and weather protection. Exposure to noise, hazards such as moving vehicles, mechanical parts, high places, heat, and chemicals. Must wear protective gear including respirator, hard hat, or other device. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and detailed work. Ability to speak, listen, and communicate effectively. Repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers. Visual acuity for operating motor vehicles and heavy equipment. This role is physically demanding and requires a pre‑employment physical exam. Must pass a drug test before employment. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing.
