Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Pending licenses accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic experience Description: This is a 12-bed unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at the intermediate level. Common patient populations include those transferring from the ICU. This unit cares for patients who have experienced neuro trauma, subarachnoid, intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhage, and other neurological issues. The patient ratio is 1:3. Every other weekend and holiday are required, with two out of three winter holidays mandatory. Nights are three shifts per week for the full duration of the contract. The role involves caring for patients with a wide range of neurological problems, including post-operative spine patients and ENT patients with cancer. Duties may include managing various medical protocols and procedures, including blood product administration, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and tracheostomy care. Interdisciplinary support from various teams is available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The unit provides care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Daily census can be around 10 patients, providing unique challenges and experiences throughout the contract duration.
