Senior Application Engineer – MMIC ProductsDo you thrive at the intersection of RF engineering, customer engagement, and hands-on lab work? If so, we are looking for a Senior Application Engineer to join our Application Engineering Team.Our team supports customers working with a diverse portfolio of MMIC devices—from low-frequency passives to products operating beyond 100 GHz, with continuous innovation across the portfolio. As a Senior Application Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader within the team, driving customer success, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to application strategy and product adoption.What You’ll DoIn this role, you will serve as a primary technical interface between customers and MACOM, combining deep technical expertise with clear communication and strong ownership.You will:Lead investigations and resolution of complex customer technical issues, independently driving to closureProvide authoritative technical guidance on RF/microwave applications, measurements, and system-level integrationDesign, execute, and interpret advanced RF test setups using equipment such as PNA-X, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, probe stations, and power measurement systemsArchitect and design application-specific circuits, evaluation boards, and reference designs to support customer needsDevelop high-quality technical collateral including application notes, data packages, and presentationsAnalyze characterization and production data to inform datasheets, application guidance, and customer recommendationsCollaborate cross-functionally with design, product engineering, reliability, and marketing teams to ensure successful product adoptionRepresent the Application Engineering team in technical discussions, design reviews, and customer engagementsTechnical Leadership & OwnershipA key aspect of this role is leadership—both technical and organizational:Act as a subject matter expert for assigned product lines or application areasMentor and guide junior engineers in lab techniques, problem-solving, and customer interaction Help define best practices for measurement methodologies, ticket handling, and application workflows Drive improvements in technical support processes, tools, and documentation Support prioritization and management of customer inquiries, ensuring timely and high-quality responses Provide feedback to development teams based on customer interactions and field learningsSpecific ResponsibilitiesLead complex RF testing and debugging activities across lab environmentsDesign and validate evaluation hardware and application circuitsReview and contribute to datasheets and application documentationManage and contribute to technical ticket tracking with a focus on responsiveness and qualityDevelop and deliver customer-facing presentations and technical contentSupport design reviews and internal technical discussions as a senior contributorQualificationsEducation:BSEE or BSECE required; MS preferredExperience:Typically 5+ years of experience in RF/microwave, semiconductor, or related engineering fieldStrong hands-on experience with RF/microwave test equipment and measurement techniquesDemonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problemsTechnical Skills:Solid understanding of RF & microwave theory and practical implementationExperience with characterization, modeling, and application of MMIC productsFamiliarity with PCB design for high-frequency applicationsProfessional Skills:Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey complex concepts clearlyProven ability to work cross-functionally and influence technical decisionsSelf-driven, organized, and capable of managing multiple prioritiesWhy You’ll Love ItWork on cutting-edge RF and microwave technologies across a broad product portfolioEngage directly with customers and play a key role in their successInfluence product direction and application strategy through real-world insightsBe part of a collaborative, high-performing team that values technical excellence and mentorshipEEO: MACOM is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse workforce. Salary Range The Salary Range for this position is $97,000 – $168,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
