Job Description

The Flexographic Press Operator efficiently sets up and operates flexographic presses to produce high-quality labels that meet precise specifications for quality, safety, and waste management. This role works closely with a collaborative team to ensure the press is fully stocked and ready for continuous production, while also contributing to process improvements, innovation, and adherence to Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a flexographic press efficiently, ensuring all jobs meet established specifications for product quality, safety, and waste management.
• Monitor press performance throughout production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent print quality and minimize material and product waste.
• Work closely with team members to ensure the press is stocked with all necessary materials, including inks, substrates, foils, dies, and screens, enabling continuous and efficient production.
• Handle materials such as cold foils, hot stamp dies, rotary screens, and tactile varnishes, ensuring proper installation, alignment, and use during production.
• Provide leadership and support in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline workflows.
• Support and follow ISO quality systems, adhering to documented procedures and quality standards throughout the production process.
• Contribute to an innovative culture by supporting the development of new products and printing techniques that enhance customer labels and packaging.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to think through mechanical aspects of equipment operations and related decision-making.
• Two or more years of experience in printing, specifically working with flexographic presses or similar press operations.
• Hands-on experience with cold foils, hot stamp dies, rotary screens, and tactile varnishes.
• Demonstrated ability to set up, operate, and monitor flexographic printing equipment.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple long- and short-term projects and meet all related deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people and personalities.
• Strong relationship-building skills to foster effective teamwork and communication across functions.
• High level of customer service orientation, with the ability to respond promptly and thoroughly to internal and external inquiries and needs.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment with loud machinery and varying temperatures.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment where flexographic presses and related machinery operate at high speeds and can be loud when running. The facility is organized and focused on maintaining an orderly production area. Temperatures can vary with the seasons and may become hot in the summer and cold in the winter, depending on local weather conditions. You will work around mechanical equipment, inks, and production materials, and will be expected to follow all safety procedures appropriate to a manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Green Bay, WI.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
