Medical AssistantWe are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team at Academic Alliance in Dermatology in Sarasota, FL. In this role, you will partner closely with the provider to support both general and cosmetic dermatology services. Responsibilities include preparing exam and procedure rooms, maintaining adequate clinical supplies, and assisting with patient care throughout the day.Candidates with Medical Assistant experience in any specialty are encouraged to apply. At Anne Arundel Dermatology, you'll find a supportive environment where you can build your skills and grow long term.ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do:Greet and prepare patients for their visit by obtaining histories and documenting all intake information within the EMR (EMA)Coordinate patient flow throughout the clinic to support an efficient schedule and minimize delaysPrepare exam and procedure rooms by organizing instruments, setting up trays, supplies, and equipment based on provider needsProvide hands-on assistance during dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and other in-office treatmentsProcess laboratory and pathology specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and proper routing in accordance with payer guidelinesAssist with numbing patientsRespond to patient inquiries in person and via phone, directing clinical concerns to the appropriate team members when neededManage clinical communications such as inbox tasks, nurse line messages, voicemails, faxes, and internal requestsSupport documentation efforts by entering notes and assisting with scribing during patient visits as neededMaintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and equipment following established infection control standardsTrack and maintain inventory, remove expired items, and ensure accurate documentation of supplies and medicationsReplenish and organize clinical stock to keep exam rooms and storage areas fully equippedFollow up with patients regarding pathology results, document all outreach, and coordinate next steps per provider guidanceUphold HIPAA standards and ensure all patient information remains confidentialContribute to daily clinic operations and assist with additional duties as assignedQualificationsQualifications:Demonstrates the ability to assess and prioritize patient concerns appropriatelyMaintains adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen guidelinesSkilled in obtaining and recording vital signs and preparing patients for clinical visitsComfortable assisting with or administering injections in a clinical settingFamiliar with medical terminologyUnderstanding of basic office billing and financial proceduresProficient with computers and experienced in working within electronic medical record (EMR) systemsAble to use standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and fax machinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsFluent in EnglishCapable of performing effectively in a fast-moving, occasionally high-pressure environmentWorks well collaboratively with team members while maintaining professionalism with patients and visitorsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities throughout the dayAble to follow both verbal and written instructions accuratelyDetail-oriented with the ability to organize and file information using alphabetical or numerical systemsLicensure/Certifications/EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program, or a bachelor's degree in a pre-med or pre-PA track, is preferredPrevious hands-on clinical experience (1-2 years preferred) in a Medical Assistant (CMA), CNA, or similar patient care roleDermatology experience is beneficial but not requiredPhysical Requirements:Ability to remain on your feet and move throughout the clinic for extended periodsFrequent movement including bending, reaching, twisting, and maintaining balanceRegular use of hands for clinical and administrative tasksClear communication both in person and over the phoneHandling everyday clinical materials and suppliesAbility to lift or move items up to approximately 30 poundsExposure to clinical environments, including potential contact with biohazards, chemicals, and sharp instrumentsBenefits (Full-Time | 30+ Hours per Week):Medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning the first of the month after hireShort-term and long-term disability, voluntary life insurance (employee, spouse, and dependent), critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans available after hireEmployer-paid basic life and AD&D insurancePaid time off and company-recognized holidaysRetirement savings plan optionsDiscounts on cosmetic treatments and skincare products
