(IAW) is seeking a professional and customer-focused Full-Time Switchboard Operator (9:00 AM5:00 PM rotational weekends and holidays) to support operations at the Hampton VA Medical Center. The Switchboard Operator serves as the primary communication link between patients, visitors, clinical staff, and healthcare providers by receiving, processing, and routing incoming calls while ensuring accurate and timely communication. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service, maintain professional telephone etiquette, and support critical communication operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment./ph3Essential Duties and Responsibilities/h3ulliReceive and answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally./liliTransfer calls accurately to the appropriate departments, clinics, physicians, and staff members./liliConduct warm transfers as required to ensure callers are successfully connected./liliProvide general and specific information regarding hospital departments, clinic locations, and medical center services./liliOperate telephone consoles, paging systems, and communication equipment./liliInitiate emergency communication procedures and overhead paging announcements as necessary./liliRespond to emergency situations including: ulliCode Blue notifications/liliEmergency alerts/liliFire drills/liliDisaster notifications/liliThreat calls/liliSuicidal caller procedures/li/ul/liliMaintain and utilize current on-call schedules, notification rosters, and department directories./liliAssist providers and healthcare personnel with paging and notification processes./liliDocument and maintain operational logs and reports including: ulliUnusual Event Logs/liliTelephone Trouble Reports/liliCode Blue/Cardiac Arrest Logs/liliDaily operational documentation/li/ul/liliFollow approved communication scripts and established procedures./liliMaintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, VA privacy requirements, and security policies./liliWork collaboratively with supervisors and team members to ensure uninterrupted service operations./liliPerform additional related duties as assigned./li/ulpRequirements/ppstrongEducation/strong/pulliHigh School Diploma or GED required./li/ulh3Experience/h3ulliMinimum one (1) year of experience in customer service, switchboard operations, call center support, healthcare administration support, or related experience preferred./li/ulh3Skills and Abilities/h3ulliStrong verbal and written communication skills./liliAbility to communicate clearly and professionally in English./liliExcellent customer service and interpersonal skills./liliAbility to operate multiple telephone lines and computer systems simultaneously./liliAbility to remain calm and effective during stressful and emergency situations./liliStrong attention to detail and organizational abilities./liliAbility to prioritize tasks and manage high call volumes./liliBasic computer proficiency, including: ulliMicrosoft Word/liliMicrosoft Outlook/liliInternet-based applications/liliData entry systems/li/ul/li/ulh3Additional Requirements/h3ulliAbility to successfully complete background investigation and fingerprint requirements./liliAbility to complete all required VA security and privacy training./liliMust maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information./liliMust maintain professional appearance and conduct./liliAbility to sit for extended periods while using communication equipment and computers./liliMust be dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality./li/ul/div
