High School English Teacher

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate High School English Teacher to join the faculty at Albany Junior Senior High. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for literature and writing while fostering critical thinking and effective communication skills. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic learning environment and contribute to their academic growth and personal development. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines. Teach a variety of English language arts courses, including literature, composition, and language skills. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support improvement. Foster a love for reading by introducing diverse literary works and encouraging discussions around themes and contexts. Integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences and engage students. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to school-wide initiatives. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends. Supervise and support students during extracurricular activities, including clubs and events related to English language arts. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification for secondary education in English. Proven experience teaching high school English, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Passion for literature and education, with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Familiarity with technology and digital tools for education. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
