AMERICAN GREETINGS has an exciting career opportunity based in the Lansing, MI area for an experienced candidate with a background in sales or retail management and a desire to jump into the rewarding and challenging business of the social expressions industry. This is a full‑time salaried role. The Field Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional retail service and execution while maximizing sales of American Greetings products within a defined geographic area (territory). The Field Manager implements all programs and customer initiatives in assigned accounts to planned intent, serves as the face of the American Greetings brand, and builds strong relationships with the management and store personnel of the accounts. The Field Manager also hires, onboards, trains, develops, and manages all associates within their territory, which can vary between 40–45 direct reports. Territory Borders North – Greenville, MI South – Hillsdale, MI West – Charlotte, MI East – Novi, MI Field Sales Operations Team Responsibilities Lead a team of associates to execute chain and corporate programs, maintain account standards, and profitably maximize sales. Review sales performance to forecast in assigned accounts and implement programs to meet goals. Call on accounts within the assigned territory as per established call frequencies. Build and maintain strong relationships with managers, owners, and other personnel within assigned accounts while conforming to all company policies, procedures, and sales terms. Manage the Merchandiser Service Cycle to maintain account standards and maximize sales volume at the store level. Execute and maintain regular work schedules with merchandisers to ensure displays are set up and maintained to corporate and chain standards using approved service budgets. Interview, hire, and train direct reports, maintaining compliance with recruitment and onboarding laws, regulations, and company policies and processes. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to associates and partner with the District Manager and Human Resources as needed. Coordinate set‑ups for new accounts and revisions. Achieve the annual territory sales forecast, service model goals, and key metrics while managing expense, merchandiser, and credit budgets. Perform all other duties as assigned. Work Environment Must have a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements to be a company driver. Exposure to a retail environment and a home‑based office environment. Extensive travel within the assigned territory (up to 70% of the time); travel outside the territory may be required as needed. Extensive time driving in a vehicle; may be required to travel overnight by car and/or plane. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Energetic, self‑motivated, and results oriented with a clear focus on high performance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to influence and collaborate both internally and externally. Computer experience required, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and iPhone apps. Excellent organizational skills, effective time management, and multitasking ability. Attention to detail and timely follow‑up. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and managing frequently changing priorities.
