Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and on time, process incoming payments, and apply them to customer accounts. This role requires proficiency in QuickBooks and involves close collaboration with project managers and office staff to ensure billing accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Generate and distribute customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Process incoming payments and apply payments to customer accounts.
• Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and establish payment arrangements when necessary.
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate financial and customer records within QuickBooks.
• Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting.
• Work closely with project managers and office staff to ensure billing accuracy.
• Prepare accounts receivable reports for management review.
• Support additional accounting and administrative functions as needed.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Familiarity with invoicing and progress billing.
• Ability to reconcile checking accounts, credit card accounts, and vendor statements.
• Experience in bookkeeping and data entry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction accounting is preferred.
• Ability to process payroll and prepare bank deposits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and bank reconciliation.
• Capacity to support month-end accounting activities and financial recordkeeping.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in Gretna within a small office of approximately 30 employees. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM, totaling 40-45 hours a week with a one-hour lunch break. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gretna, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
