Dining Services Associate

Job Summary The Dining Services Associate performs designated serving, cleaning/dishwashing, cooking, prepping and other duties for the dining department and is accountable to the Director of Dining. This role works in many capacities within Dining and Hospitality to serve our residents and provides universal support to Dining Operations, flexing between various job assignments. The role requires adaptability and versatility. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables. Perform defined work routines using various dining utensils, supplies and equipment. Follow sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements. Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed. Open and close kitchen and dining rooms as required. Wash and store dishes. Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Required: High school diploma. Certificates: Current Food Handler’s Permit required. Servsafe training beneficial. Desired: 1 year of food service experience, including serving, waiting tables, cleaning, kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal prep. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY Communicate effectively (verbal and written, English) with residents and staff. Read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices. Maintain a cordial and congenial demeanor with residents. Be dependable, detail oriented, organized, and good at follow‑through. Work within standard policy and procedures with limited direct supervision. Handle a variety of tasks and functions. React calmly in emergency situations and show patience and compassion to senior adults. Consider residents’ comfort, safety, security and belongings. Set and establish priorities; manage time efficiently. Maintain a neat, orderly work area and a well‑groomed appearance in compliance with food code standards. Adhere to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements. Understand and apply food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles. Interact positively with all persons at Covenant Living Communities and Services. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS May be required to lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, and long periods of walking and/or standing. Required adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of this position. COMPENSATION Pay range: $14.01 – $18.44 per hour.
