Job Description
Mental Health Consultant
This position supports the Social Development and Health and Wellness teams and is a salaried, exempt role.
At Job Corps, this role is about more than counseling. You are working with young adults at a critical point in their lives, helping them navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop the stability needed to succeed in training and employment.
You will play a direct role in supporting students through emotional, behavioral, and life challenges while helping them stay on track toward their goals.
Make more than a living. Make a difference.
Position Overview
The Mental Health Consultant provides clinical support and guidance to students ages 16 to 24. This role focuses on assessment, intervention, and ongoing support to address mental health needs that may impact student success.
You will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure students receive appropriate care, support, and referrals when needed.
What You Bring
You bring clinical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to connect with young adults who may be dealing with complex life challenges. You are steady under pressure, able to manage crisis situations, and capable of balancing empathy with professional boundaries.
You understand how to assess, intervene, and guide individuals toward healthier coping and decision-making.
What You Gain
You gain the opportunity to make a direct impact on student well-being and success in a structured, mission-driven environment. This role allows you to apply your clinical skills while working alongside a team focused on long-term outcomes, not just short-term intervention.

• Makes referrals to community resources and specialized services when appropriate
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with confidentiality and regulatory standards
• Supports a safe and structured environment by addressing behavioral and emotional concerns as they arise
• Participates in case management and interdisciplinary team meetings
• Stays current on best practices, treatment approaches, and mental health trends
• Participates in outreach and education efforts to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required
• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure required
• Experience providing counseling or mental health services to adolescents or young adults preferred
Additional Requirements
• Strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with a diverse student population
• Strong understanding of developmental, social, and cultural factors impacting young adults
• Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate documentation
