Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Psych Profession: Nursing Specialty: Psychiatric Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: Demonstrated competence in psychiatric nursing Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice. Execute the nursing process to provide effective, evidence-based care including the assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients and families. Responsibilities include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs as guided by an individualized ongoing plan of care. The RN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Communicate in a clear and respectful manner with both patients and teammates during every encounter. Demonstrate integrity, reliability, emotional maturity, compassion, and caring for patients, families, and coworkers. Ensure a positive influence on morale. Involve patients and families in establishing care goals. Implement interventions for the attainment of care goals reflecting resourceful involvement of team members. Facilitate the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Act as a resource to others. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation. Exhibit critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions and prioritizing both planned and unplanned events. Proactively address potential and actual problems. Recognize and incorporate the value and relevance of research and evidence-based practice in nursing. Be self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system. Assist peers and team members in acquiring department-specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors. Appropriately delegate to members of the care team and follow the delegation process including evaluation. Demonstrate leadership at the point of care through clinical decision-making, advocacy, collaboration, and influencing patient outcomes. Remain flexible in assisting patients, families, and teammates as needed, and assume other appropriate responsibilities as required.
