Registered Veterinary Technician

ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic is seeking a compassionate and dependable California Registered Veterinary Technician to join our nonprofit surgical team.

Since 2009, ACT has provided affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services for pet dogs, pet cats, and community cats throughout San Joaquin County. Our clinic has performed more than 100,000 surgeries, helping prevent animal overpopulation and improving access to essential veterinary care.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RVT who enjoys surgery, anesthesia, and hands-on patient care and who makes a meaningful difference in the community.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare canine and feline patients for spay and neuter procedures

Calculate and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian

Assist with anesthesia induction, intubation, and surgical preparation

Monitor patients closely throughout anesthesia and maintain accurate anesthetic records

Recognize and promptly communicate changes in a patient’s condition

Provide attentive postoperative monitoring and recovery care

Assist the veterinarian during surgical and medical procedures

Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and other RVT duties within the California scope of practice

Follow established patient-safety, sterilization, and infection-control protocols

Help maintain an organized, efficient, and well-prepared surgical area

Support veterinary assistants and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented workplace

Provide clear discharge instructions and client education when needed

Qualifications

Current California RVT license in good standing

Knowledge of veterinary anesthesia, patient monitoring, and surgical recovery

Ability to calculate medication and anesthetic dosages accurately

Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively in a high-volume environment

Compassionate handling skills with dogs, pet cats, and community cats

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Previous surgical or high-volume spay and neuter experience is preferred, but motivated newly licensed RVTs with solid anesthesia training are encouraged to apply.
