HVAC Data Center Travel Team Journeymen Mechanic (union)

Ready to roll? Willingness to travel 50‑75% of the time as part of the Travel Team is required. What You Will Do Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning (HVAC) systems. Repair and troubleshoot commercial HVACR service equipment, including centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia or hydrocarbon system components. Install complete HVAC systems such as chillers, rooftop units, boilers, compressors, and supporting plumbing. Conduct mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, and vibration analysis equipment. Provide solutions and recommendations to customers, including quotes, to ensure efficient facility operation and identify upselling opportunities. Work with Journeymen, Servicemen, apprentices, and local market mechanics to provide on‑the‑job training and support. Maintain safety certifications, including ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training, and prioritize safety in all work activities. Travel to support branch customers, troubleshooting, installation, and repair activities. Enroll in training programs to acquire knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting, and participate in the Service Plus Rewards program. What We Look For Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. Minimum of eight (8) years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience in environments such as industrial petrochemical, data centers, rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, and compressors. Experience repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components. Ability to install complete systems including chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and supporting mechanical systems. Proficiency with mechanical shaft alignment and vibration troubleshooting tools. Ability to pass a knowledge examination assessing HVAC proficiencies. Universal EPA refrigerant license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license. Strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills, with the ability to explain problems, causes, and corrective actions to customers. Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on‑the‑job training. Pay Range: $38.25 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. This is a bargaining‑unit position. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
