Job Title: RN Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arrival. Description: This position involves working in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment. The focus is on the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This unit delivers evidence-based, protocol-driven care. There is a strong emphasis on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities include performing and documenting frequent neurological assessments. This includes the NIH Stroke Scale. Monitoring and interpreting telemetry rhythms is essential. Responding to changes in real time is required. Ensuring compliance with stroke core measures is critical. This includes dysphagia screening, education, and care plans. Administering medications with a focus on safety and accuracy using BCMA standards is necessary. Coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team is expected. Management of admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment is part of the role. Maintaining a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety is required. Completion of 8 hours of stroke training is also necessary.
