Part Time Bilingual Speech and Language Pathologist (retirees welcome!) International Charter School – Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Starting Date: Immediately. Job Description The International Charter School seeks to hire an energetic, caring bilingual Speech and Language Pathologist to work as a member of the special education team providing direct and consultative services for children with communication and other disabilities. The Speech Language Pathologist collaborates with teachers, special educators, other school personnel, and parents to develop and implement individual or group programs and support classroom activities. Services are provided within the general education classroom, on a pull‑out basis and/or within the context of a specialized program. Successful candidate must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about a variety of interventions; have training and experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of assessments and evaluation tools. In addition to direct student services, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the testing and evaluation of students initially referred or for reevaluations for caseload students. Mission: The mission of the International Charter School is to integrate the diverse languages and cultures of the communities we serve by teaching all students in two languages—Spanish and English or Portuguese and English—and helping children develop an appreciation of other cultures. Specific Responsibilities Provide consultation to classroom teachers on the development of language. Assist teachers and teacher assistants in developing language‑based classroom activities. Assist parents in learning ways to increase language stimulation at home. Provide individual services to children with speech and/or language disorders. Plan and organize 1:1 and small group speech and language therapy. Assess needs in the area of speech, language and hearing and prepare diagnostic reports. Serve as a member of the team that develops Individual Education Programs for each pupil enrolled. Communicate with parents, school administrators, teachers, and other support staff for coordination of services. Demonstrate ethical behavior and a genuine concern for others under all circumstances; model expected behavior. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Special Education. Job Requirements Valid RI Certification as a Speech & Language Pathologist. Bilingual preferred (Spanish preferred). Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting. Knowledge of technologies to enhance communication. Knowledge of research‑based practices and interventions to address communication. Proven demonstrative skills in school settings, diagnostic assessments, and comprehensive student evaluations. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
