Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Patient ratios 1:5-6.

Highlights:

• Specialized unit focused on orthopedic trauma, neuro trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and general surgery overflow patients
• Epic electronic medical record system with comprehensive 28-hour orientation program (12-hour unit orientation plus 16-hour organizational education)
• First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, lift teams, and more
• Float opportunities to similar units within the facility to expand clinical experience
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and expected to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the last 5 years
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Epic charting system experience required
• Strong clinical skills including: heparin drips, PCA pumps, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, IV starts, and peripheral line care
• Experience with dysrhythmia management, oxygen protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), tracheostomy management, and wound care
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must be comfortable with 1:5-6 patient ratios and floating to similar units

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS certification
• Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias, pre/post hemodialysis management, drip management, CVA patients, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injuries
