About the Position

Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Infusion RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Infusion Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2 years of nursing experience working with pediatric Hematology/Oncology patient population License: MN RN license or MN Temp Permit-RN Certifications: BLS, PALS, Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Course completion through APHON or equivalent within past 5 years Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Ability to assess pediatric patients before, during, and after chemotherapy/infusion treatments Experience in administering chemotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications safely Skills in monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions and intervening promptly Proficient in managing central lines (ports, PICCs) and maintaining sterile technique Capability to provide pain, symptom, and supportive care (nausea, fatigue, etc.) Experience in educating patients and families about treatments, side effects, and home care Ability to offer emotional support to children and caregivers Skills in collaborating with oncologists and interdisciplinary teams Proficient in documenting care, medication administration, and patient responses accurately Description: The RN will assess pediatric patients before, during, and after chemotherapy and infusion treatments. They will administer chemotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications safely. Monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions and intervening promptly is essential. The RN will manage central lines, including ports and PICCs, while maintaining sterile technique. They will provide pain, symptom, and supportive care for various conditions. Educating patients and families about treatments, side effects, and home care is a key responsibility. Emotional support for children and caregivers is an important aspect of care. The RN will collaborate with oncologists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. Accurate documentation of care, medication administration, and patient responses is required.
