Boone County Family Resources is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Direct Support Professional in our residential program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for:

• Developing a rapport with residents and cultivating a safe and supportive relationship
• Assisting individuals with disabilities thriving in their homes by providing support with completing personal hygiene, grooming, cooking, laundry, cleaning, and shopping.
• Supporting individuals with connecting in the community by assisting with transportation to work, activities, and appointments and providing support as needed during activities at various community locations.
• Encouraging individuals to achieve their personal goals through the implementation of planned services and working collaboratively with other team members.

Minimum qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Experience providing direct care to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
• Ability to obtain a Class E chauffeur license
• Access to a licensed and insured vehicle
• Demonstrate responsibility and maturity with excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to pass applicable background checks and a pre-employment drug screening

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• May require prolonged periods of standing, bending, or walking

Schedule: 40 hours per week with shifts ranging from 8-10 hours on weeknights, weekends, and some holidays. Staff work with individuals with ID/DD in a residential apartment setting.
