Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse - Oncology

• Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and attend education programs
• Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients and caregivers
• Identify expected patient outcomes and evaluate patient care with the interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrate competence in patient care, including complex physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
• Utilize healthcare standards and policies in care delivery
• Develop professional goals and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities
• Recognize data from complex situations to prioritize care needs
• Collaborate with patients and family to prepare or update the plan of care
• Engage in research and bring applicable ideas to the staff

Requirements of the Clinical Nurse - Oncology

• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC)
• One (1) year of nursing experience
