Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) – Shreveport, LA

Shift: 12-hour nights
Hours/Week: Approximately 36 hours
Employment Type: Contract
Licenses/Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIH
Experience: 2+ years of acute care RN experience; first-time travelers accepted with 2 years of permanent RN experience
Patient Types: Cardiac, stroke, surgical, and medical patients including AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-heart cath, CVA/TIA, spinal surgeries including ACDF, Laminectomy
Patient Ratios: RN 1:3, CNA 1:7

Pay Rate: $50.25/hour

What You'll Do
- Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse adult patient population on the PCU
- Monitor patient conditions, administer and titrate medications including IV drips (e.g., Cardene, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Levophed) with manager approval if needed
- Manage multiple acute conditions such as stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, post-surgical recovery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists, therapists, and support staff
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR
- Support unit functions such as phlebotomy, central line management, and patient assessments
- Adhere to hospital policies on safety, infection control, and documentation
What You Need
- Required: Active Louisiana RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIH certifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care setting, with experience in cardiac and neurological patient care preferred
- Skills: Ability to perform titratable IV medication management, competency in EKG, and documentation proficiency
- Preferred: Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, lumbar drains; ability to pass EKG competency exam
