Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Driver's license required Description: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any associated facility. Weekend shifts are Saturday and Sunday. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails may lead to termination of contract. Registered Nurses must pass an exam during orientation. The exam is open book and focuses on skills learned. Candidates are provided with all necessary resources to pass. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failing to achieve this may result in termination. Blocked scheduling is not approved unless it is for weekends only. Duo scheduling is not permitted. If placed on call, candidates must arrive within 30 minutes if called back in. The department has 33 beds, with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdoses, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placements, strokes, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable or set rate drips include cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on patient census, assisting as needed. Healthcare support technicians work three days per week. Registered Nurses must troubleshoot respiratory equipment as necessary. Shifts are from 0630-1830 and 1830-0630. Self-scheduling is available for core staff; however, travelers are added in. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Registered Nurses are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Floating to other units occurs, typically to PCU and occasionally to Med-Surg. Holiday requirements include a minimum of two holidays within the contract timeframe. Weekend requirements call for every other weekend. RTO needed upfront is seven days or fewer per contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after the initial submission. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required. A valid license to practice is necessary.
