The Senior Staff Software Engineer is primarily responsible for leading large-scale technical solutions across multiple engineering disciplines. This role extends influence across engineering discipline boundaries to shape technical strategy, creates alignment between different engineering disciplines, and influences senior leadership decisions. The Senior Staff Software Engineer drives technical excellence throughout the organization while serving as a key technical authority and mentor.

• Lead large-scale technical initiatives that span multiple teams and engineering disciplines.
• Shape technical strategy and create alignment across teams and platforms.

• Partner with engineering and product leadership to align technical direction with broader priorities.

• Deep technical expertise with a track record of leading complex, large-scale systems.
• Ability to influence and align multiple teams without direct authority.
• Strong system design skills with a focus on long-term scalability and sustainability.
• Strategic thinking—able to balance immediate needs with long-term direction.
• Clear, effective communication across engineers, partners, and leadership.
• Proven ability to operate at both technical depth and organizational breadth.
• Alignment with Life.Church’s mission and a desire to build things that help people grow in their faith.

You bring deep expertise in one area and the ability to influence across others:

• Backend systems (distributed systems, APIs, cloud architecture).
• Mobile platforms (Flutter/Dart, iOS, Android).
• Web platforms (React, Node.js, scalable web architecture).
• System design across complex, multi-platform environments.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
• 9+ years of related work experience.
• Previous experience as a Staff Engineer or equivalent level.
• Track record of leading large, cross-team technical initiatives.
• Ability to influence technical direction beyond a single team or domain.
