About the Position

Job Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, monitor behavioral changes, and track responses to psychotropic medications.

• Crisis De-escalation: Employ verbal de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to manage acute psychiatric crises, agitation, or aggressive behavior safely.

• Milieu Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for patients on voluntary or involuntary holds.

• Care Plan Execution: Administer medications, facilitate therapeutic groups, and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists on discharge planning.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• License: Active, unrestricted Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent, independent inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health hospital experience.

• Certifications: Active AHA BLS required. CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent crisis management training is highly preferred.

• Legal Competency: Solid understanding of state-specific behavioral health laws (such as Massachusetts Section 12 regulations for involuntary admissions).
