Staff Software Engineer

Salary: $174,000 - 205,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a product-minded engineer who can work end to end, from understanding customer needs with product through deployment and impact measurement.
• We need proven cross-team technical leadership on substantial, multi-team initiatives, including managing dependencies and aligning stakeholders.
• We value strong architectural judgment and the ability to design scalable, adaptable systems while balancing long-term direction with practical delivery.
• We expect experience operating services in production, including monitoring, testing, rollouts, and day-to-day reliability ownership.
• We are seeking someone with experience in complex domains, ideally flights or travel, or another constrained, customer-facing environment such as fintech.
• We want a full-stack engineer who is comfortable across both frontend and backend, with deeper strength in backend systems.
• We use Python and AWS, and we are open to other tools if you can demonstrate that you learn quickly.
• We look for operational maturity, including observability, SLOs, incident handling, and blameless post-mortems.
• We value mentorship and influence, with a track record of helping other engineers grow through design reviews, pairing, and guidance.
• We are interested in candidates with experience in, or a strong interest in, AI-augmented development workflows such as agentic coding and AI-assisted code review.

• Own the technical direction across multiple teams and help shape shared engineering priorities.
• Contribute to annual and quarterly planning with product managers, engineering managers, and other engineers.
• Spend most of the time hands-on, actively building within one or two teams while also mentoring others and removing blockers.
• Translate business objectives into engineering strategies, including identifying architectural changes needed for scale.
• Support engineers through mentorship, design feedback, pairing, and by explaining technical trade-offs to the wider business.
• Coordinate across squads and drive alignment on cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Connect dependencies, unblock delivery, and help move shared projects forward across the organisation.
• Help raise the overall engineering standard and ensure teams focus energy where it has the greatest impact.
