Shipping & Receiving TechnicianThe Shipping and Receiving Tech will be responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments. This individual will prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.Roles & ResponsibilitiesSchedule and monitor deliveriesReceive and unload freight both manually or with pallet jacksMeasure and record the daily volume of incoming and outgoing USPS mail, intercompany mail, UPS/FedEx/DHL packages as requiredCheck for damaged goods; verify quantity and quality of orderVerify items received with POTransfer material from wood pallets to plastic palletsWrap packages and ship suppliesUnpack, examine and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortagesStock shelves and rotate inventoryMay receive hazardous materialMaintain inventory recordsMaintain inventory of shipping materials and suppliesPerform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goodsSupport the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer baseMake arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructionsReport defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisorKeep adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all timesMaintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulationsFrequently required to use email, phone, and direct interaction with customers, suppliers, and site teamMay assemble furnitureAssist with additional tasks as directed by SBM site leadershipQualificationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.Education and/ or ExperienceHigh School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMay be required to have a valid driver's license.May be required to have Fork Lift certification.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust be computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Suite preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Must have thorough understanding of material handling.Ability to write simple correspondence or present information.Strong organizational and communication skillsRequired to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
