Job Summary

Join a leading Level 1 Trauma Center in Rockford, Illinois, as a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-acuity care within our Intensive Care Unit (ICU), including Neurology ICU, Critical Care Unit (CCU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), and general Intensive Care, while also supporting our Step-Down units.

The ideal candidate will possess robust ICU experience gained within a Level 1 Trauma environment and demonstrate flexibility in floating between critical care and progressive care settings. You will play a vital role in managing complex patient cases, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring exceptional patient outcomes for critically ill and recovering patients.

This position involves comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and continuous monitoring. You will be instrumental in developing and executing individualized care plans, administering advanced treatments, and maintaining meticulous documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state practice acts.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care, including comprehensive patient and family education.
  • Actively participate in department and unit performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments to support the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety and enhance the patient experience, escalating concerns appropriately through the chain of command.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Significant recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, preferably within a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Ability to float between ICU and Step-Down units.
