Job Purpose & Position Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Audiologist will conduct an audiology clinic two times per month. The Audiologist provides comprehensive hearing and balance care to patients across the lifespan. This role emphasizes culturally competent, patient-centered care. The Audiologist works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to improve hearing health outcomes and support community wellness. Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive audiologic evaluations (hearing, balance, and middle ear function)
- Diagnose hearing loss and auditory disorders
- Fit, program, and maintain hearing aids and assistive listening devices
- Provide aural rehabilitation and patient/family education
- Manage tinnitus and vestibular disorders as appropriate
- Interpret diagnostic results and develop individualized treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Educate patients and families on hearing health, prevention, and treatment options
- Provide counseling on hearing aid use, communication strategies, and lifestyle adaptations
- Promote early detection of hearing loss, especially in pediatric and elder populations
- Participate in community outreach, screenings, and health fairs
- Collaborate with tribal programs (e.g., elder services, schools, early childhood programs)
- Support prevention initiatives related to noise exposure and chronic disease impacts on hearing
- Deliver care in a culturally respectful and sensitive manner
- Incorporate traditional beliefs and practices when appropriate and in collaboration with patients
- Build trust and rapport within the community
- Work closely with primary care providers, ENT specialists, nurses, and behavioral health teams
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care
- Strong time management skills that allow the Audiologist to successfully manage their schedule and see patients in a timely manner
- A commitment to staying up to date on the latest audiology-related research to provide patients with the best solutions available
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Publisher
- Must possess grammatical competence
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently, to work under supervision, and to work in a team based and goal-oriented environment
- Must have a Doctoral Degree in Audiology
- Experience: One (1) year direct work experience in a clinical setting as an Audiologist
- Complete the credentialing process with WCHS-Twelve Clans Unity Hospital
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass a federal background check
- Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment
- While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
- Reading, writing, calculating
- Above average social interaction skills
- Reasoning/Analysis
- Works with minimal to no supervision
- Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
- Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills
- All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check
