About the Role

Swish is seeking an experienced Network Engineer III to support a mission-focused customer in Kearneysville, West Virginia. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, evaluating, and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure in a customer environment.

This role requires a strong technical background in network engineering, including routers, switches, firewalls, network communications, and related infrastructure. The successful candidate will work independently on complex technical issues, contribute to network architecture and optimization efforts, and research emerging technologies and potential network security risks.

The position is highly customer-facing and requires a professional who can operate effectively in a mission-critical environment, communicate technical information clearly, and independently resolve complex network challenges.

An active U.S. Secret security clearance is required. This position is onsite at the customer location in Kearneysville, WV.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and evaluate network systems and communications infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity, performance, and configuration issues.
• Monitor network performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improved reliability.
• Support the design, implementation, and optimization of network architecture.
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and related network technologies.
• Analyze network traffic, system performance, and potential security risks.
• Research and evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend solutions appropriate to the customer environment.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of network upgrades, enhancements, and technology refresh initiatives.
• Diagnose and resolve advanced technical problems with minimal supervision.
• Support network security initiatives and ensure infrastructure is maintained in accordance with applicable security requirements and customer policies.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with customer stakeholders, engineering teams, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical staff to resolve issues and implement solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other team members as appropriate.
• Maintain awareness of current networking technologies, industry practices, and security considerations.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of customer mission requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering or a related field.
• Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, including:
• • Routers
  • Switches
  • Firewalls
  • TCP/IP
  • LAN/WAN technologies
  • Network communications
  • Network monitoring and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex network issues in an enterprise or mission-critical environment.
• Experience supporting network architecture, design, implementation, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of network security concepts, vulnerabilities, and risk considerations.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex technical assignments with limited direction.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a customer-site environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense customers.
• Experience working in classified or security-sensitive environments.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, or equivalent.
• Experience with enterprise firewall technologies and network security solutions.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
• Experience developing network architecture, diagrams, technical documentation, and implementation plans.
• Knowledge of current networking technologies and emerging infrastructure solutions.
