About the Position

Job Title: OR Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Acute Care - Operating Room (OR) Duration: 16-week contract Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 9 hours (36 hours per week) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of OR experience required License: Active RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required Must-Have: Circulator experience in the operating room Description: We are seeking Operating Room Registered Nurses with experience in circulating for various service lines. Candidates should be able to circulate for the following procedures: - Orthopedics, including total joints, ortho trauma, and sports medicine. - General Surgery, both laparoscopic and open procedures. - Urology, including litho laser usage. - ENT procedures for pediatric patients such as PE tubes, T&As, and FESS. - GI procedures, including colonoscopies and EGDs. - Spine surgeries like ACDF and lumbar fusions. - Ophthalmology procedures, including cataract surgeries. - Podiatry procedures similar to sports medicine. Experience in OB/GYN, vascular, cardiac thoracic, and organ transplant is not required. Ideal candidates will have experience in smaller community hospital settings. Call experience is preferred, as candidates may be called in for any of the mentioned service lines where they may be the only OR RN on-site. Candidates should have familiarity with the unique equipment used in each service line. The Registered Nurse will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing care plans, providing direct care, and evaluating patient progress. The RN will promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The Registered Nurse must assess patient and family needs through active listening and observation. Collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team is crucial to set goals and monitor progress. Patient and family education on self-care beyond hospitalization is an essential responsibility. The RN will document education provided and patients' responses. Quality and effectiveness of nursing practice will be systematically evaluated, with accountability for knowledge improvements. The importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families is emphasized in this role. Active engagement and understanding of patient needs are vital components of professional nursing practice. The role involves potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the course of performing required tasks.
