Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 22 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7pm - 7am Experience: Minimum 2 years License: IN license (or compact as of 7/1/20) required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (450+ beds). Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a centralized registry float position in the Med Surg specialty. This role will require the nurse to provide general medical and surgical nursing care. The unit cares for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. The nurse will manage gastrointestinal issues like pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff will also be managed. The role may involve caring for patients with neurological issues such as stroke and traumatic brain injuries. Mental health disorders including depression and anxiety may also be encountered. Patients will undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties will include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of the electronic health record and involvement with various medical equipment will be necessary. Skills required include IV therapy management and knowledge of feeding tubes and chest tubes. The nurse will float to areas in greatest need within medical units. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Weekend shifts will be required, and the nurse will work 3 weekends in a 4-week period. The dress code includes Caribbean blue scrubs. Training will include a comprehensive orientation and Epic classes. The charting system used is Epic. This position is for an acute care nursing setting.
