Construction Estimator

*Purpose:*

The Construction Estimator is responsible for managing and directing the organization's cost estimating functions. Directs and assigns activities within the estimating department, to include budgeting, procuring competitive projects, cooperating with subcontractors and supplies. If applicable assign estimating tasks to other Team Staff Members. Maintain and update OCIP and Non-OCIP wage rates to retain accurate budgets and costs pertaining to estimates.

Seek-out key information from subcontractors/suppliers and participate in periodic reviews of their work performances. Build, maintain, and pursue respectable relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that all bids are received in a timely manner. Estimate necessary expenditures to evaluate bid specifications, plans, and/or RFP; RFI; RFQ; and project schedules to successfully devise a budget for bids to secure the project. Work with the Project Management Team Members to follow-up and hand-off projects.

*General Skills required:*

Knowledge of interpreting plans, specifications, and proposals to generate budgets/estimates.

Construction estimation, analytical and math skills.

Ability to accurately estimate construction projects to generate budgets of the quantity of materials; equipment; various incidentals (i.e., taxes, insurance, performance and payment bonds, consent of surety, building permits, etc.), workforce; and schedule required to complete projects.

Proficient in quantitative take-offs, subcontractor relations, proposal development.

Proficient with MS Office/Excel; and Estimating software a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication; and analytical skills.

Experience working with AE's; Engineers; and Owners that may relate to Design-Build and CM@ Risk Projects.

Detailed oriented.

Marketing and interpersonal skills to build and maintain excellent working relationships with vendors, owners, and team members.

*Essential Responsibilities:*

Understanding and interpreting project blueprints, drawings, and maps, bidding specifications, scope descriptions, contracts, and related documents.

Preparation of estimates, proposals, accompanying cost information and schedules.

Addressing bid requests, estimates and proposals in a prompt, professional and courteous manner, by consulting with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to discuss and formulate solutions to resolve any issues or hurdles.

Coordinating and overseeing project turn-over meetings, and provide project teams with all background information for a successful implementation and completion of projects.

Managing preferred subcontractor and supplier lists; and all other relevant documentation of communications.

Prepares detailed analytical tenders, maintaining a library of pricing and outputs data, and assisting with the management of production, and negotiating estimates and tenders.

Working closely with the Chief Estimator to provide accurate pricing, value engineering ideas, scope of work and any other information required to complete RFPs and company presentations.

Working as a team member to communicate, present and negotiate directly with owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to win business for the company.

Implementing innovative ideas as an active member of the Davis & Associates team – actively participate in company discussions, make recommendations for new initiatives, and embrace policies related to safety and quality.

Attend Pre-Bid meetings; and participate in pre-bid walk-throughs and analyze solicitation for bids.

Preform other related assignments related to estimating/budgeting.

*Minimum Requirements:*

(5+) years of experience in industrial/commercial construction estimating or related field.

Familiar and knowledgeable with iSqFt; Building Connect; or other On-Screen Takeoff Software.

Ability and knowledge to conduct the essential duties with a sense of importance.

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction Management or a related field required. Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of college degree.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $70,939.39 - $75,000.00 per year
