Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Technologist

The Sterile Processing Technologist/Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech plays a vital role in the operating room by providing intraoperative assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of surgical procedures. This position ensures adherence to AORN standards and recommended practices to deliver quality care and maintain a safe surgical environment. The role requires expertise in the care and handling of surgical instrumentation and power equipment, supporting the surgical team effectively throughout procedures. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the operating room according to AORN standards and recommended practices.
• Assist in surgical procedures by providing sterile instruments and supplies.
• Ensure proper care, handling, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Implement and evaluate intraoperative processes to maintain quality and safety.
• Collaborate with surgical team members to optimize patient care during operations.
• Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
• 1-3 years of operating room scrubbing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of AORN Standards and Recommended Practices.
• Proficiency in care and handling of surgical instrumentation and power equipment per AAMI and AORN guidelines.

• Experience working in a hospital surgical environment.
• Familiarity with advanced surgical technologies and equipment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Must adhere strictly to sterile technique and infection control standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure operating room environment.
• May require standing for extended periods and handling surgical instruments carefully.

• Work schedule typically includes shifts aligned with surgical case schedules.
• May require flexibility to cover day, evening, or weekend shifts based on operating room needs.
