JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for directing quality engineers and inspectors and maintaining the overall performance of the quality assurance system. Plan, direct, or coordinate quality assurance programs and audits. Formulate quality control policies and control quality of laboratory and production efforts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure compliance with departmental standard operating procedures and AS9100 and ISO9001 procedures.
- Manages all inspection and clerical personnel by monitoring employee schedules, overtime, work production, and morale.
- Sets performance goals for each employee, reviews and assesses each employee against these goals.
- Establishes training needs assessment and cross-training schedules.
- Maintain existing quality management systems.
- Identifies and resolves systemic quality problems occurring at production and process departments.
- Manages the Material Review Board, internal/external audits, CAPA, document control, supplier performance review and quality record review.
- Reviews and approves finished product specifications and raw material specifications and master manufacturing and production batch records.
- Improves quality assurance systems plant-wide to achieve zero defects through hands-on training, strong work ethic, and leadership by example.
- Monitors and enhances plant level quality performance metrics.
- Improve profitability through reduced internal scrap and customer returns.
- Successfully interfaces with customers and prospects to improve quality.
- Reviews quality documents as necessary for regulatory requirements or inspections.
- Responsible for maintaining QA records associated with internal and external testing and all testing equipment in compliance, calibration and certification.
- Maintain certifications and existing quality management systems.
- Creates, implements and updates standard operating procedures and quality assurance manuals.
- Analyzes quality control test results and provides feedback to manufacturing / engineering dept.
- Reviews and works with QEs in preparation of weekly/monthly reports, prepares metrics and trends data to identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities.
- Develop and publish the internal audit schedule, review and perform quality audits.
- Promote safety by working in a safe manner at all times.
- Establish and maintain good standards of communication and relations with other departments, such as Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Production, etc.
- Coordinate and provide support to outside maintenance vendors, when necessary.
- Develop training and succession programs for employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Minimum 5-7 years of Quality Assurance Management, preference given for aerospace industry.
- AS9100 environment, with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience desired.
- Or at the discretion of the hiring manager.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Field or related field required.
- Or at the discretion of the hiring manager.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, Quality Manager and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of AS9100 and OEM related customer requirements (Boeing, Pratt&Whitney, Aerojet Rocketdyne).
- Knowledge of aerospace specifications, quality codes and standards.
- Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite.
- Able to work within specific time lines meeting critical deadlines.
- Must be accurate and detailed with minimum errors.
- Perform job with minimum of supervision.
- Work within a team environment.
- Can interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Understand GD&T.
- Respond with sensitivity to people of diverse perspectives.
- This position supervises a team of inspectors and clerical employees.
