Quality Control Manager

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Quality Control Manager or Lead Inspector to lead quality operations within our machine shop. This working manager role blends active inspection and technical involvement with team leadership and process oversight, ensuring products consistently meet customer expectations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, inspection plans, and standards. Conduct hands‑on inspection of incoming materials, in‑process production, and finished goods using precision measuring equipment. Train team members in inspection methods and manage the quality team workflow, prioritizing tasks and providing technical guidance. Prepare, submit, and support First Article Inspections (FAIs). Review inspection and production data to identify trends. Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming material. Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to improve processes, reduce scrap, and strengthen overall product quality. Document inspections, nonconformances, audits, and quality metrics, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, AS9100 standards, and applicable regulations. Qualifications Minimum five years of quality control or quality assurance experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T, and inspection methods. Working knowledge of CMMs, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and similar equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances. Experience with ISO 9001 or comparable quality management systems. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Experience Experience leading or mentoring a quality or inspection team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ERP or quality management software.
