Lead Custom Machine Builder — Quick Facts

Role Type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Southfield, MI
Pay: $30 - 35/hr
Schedule: 1st Shift, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday–Friday

What you’ll do

Use hand and power tools to build mechanical systems and custom machinery from the ground up.
Perform basic panel wiring to support machine functionality.
Read and apply blueprints, drawings, schematics, and work instructions to ensure correct assembly.
Diagnose and correct mechanical issues encountered during assembly.
Conduct quality checks and verify compliance to specifications on completed builds.
Communicate with customers to provide progress updates and confirm requirements.
Assist with general maintenance around the shop.

Required background

Must be a U.S. Person.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing or automotive setting, or equivalent education/experience mix.
Hands-on expertise in mechanical and machine assembly.
Fluency in reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and standard assembly equipment.
High attention to detail and working knowledge of basic quality inspection practices.
Effective communicator with solid math and computer skills.
