Travel Sterile Processing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,080–$1,160
• Location: Columbus, Ohio
• Healthcare Setting: High-volume Level I trauma hospital and healthcare system
• Employment Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour evening shifts, approximately 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
• Orientation: Approximately 40 hours
• Float Requirement: May be required between healthcare system locations and sterile processing sites
• Assignment Focus: Adult surgical services, operating room support, instrument tracking, and enterprise-wide sterile processing

Sterile Processing Technician Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent sterile processing experience; first-time travelers with a minimum of 3 years of experience may be considered
• Current CBSPD or CRCST certification through HSPA/IAHCSMM
• Medivator experience is required
• Proficiency in decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, scope reprocessing, and sterile storage
• Experience with steam and STERRAD sterilization, biological and chemical indicators, ultrasonic cleaners, and automated endoscope reprocessors
• Experience processing instruments and equipment for multiple surgical specialties, including trauma, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, cardiovascular, ENT, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, plastics, transplant, urology, and robotics
• Experience with Censitrac or a comparable instrument-tracking system is preferred
• Operating room liaison experience and familiarity with preference cards are preferred
• Two professional references are required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Availability to complete required credentialing and Ohio fingerprinting promptly after accepting the assignment

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities

• Perform thorough decontamination and manual cleaning of surgical instruments, drills, robotic equipment, endoscopes, and other reusable medical devices
• Inspect, assemble, label, wrap, and organize instrument sets and trays for all applicable service lines
• Operate and monitor steam sterilizers, STERRAD systems, washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and automated endoscope reprocessors
• Complete high-level disinfection and reprocessing of scopes, probes, and related equipment, including Medivator systems
• Prepare and distribute sterile supplies and instrumentation to operating rooms, procedural areas, and clinical departments
• Document sterilization cycles, biological and chemical monitoring, equipment checks, and instrument tracking accurately
• Support sterile storage, case cart preparation, preference card accuracy, and proper selection of packaging materials
• Serve as a clinical liaison between operating rooms and sterile processing locations to coordinate instrument availability and allocation
• Help standardize instrument trays and support safe, efficient workflows across multiple reprocessing sites
• Follow aseptic technique, infection prevention standards, manufacturer instructions, and department policies at all times
