Information Technology Technician (Events)

Position Title Information Technology Technician (Events) Assignment Full time, 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, starting September 14, 2026. Schedule may include evening or weekend hours. Work Location: Mission College, Santa Clara, CA. Salary and Benefits Anticipated Monthly Salary: $9,817.67 – $10,734.17 (WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 72, Steps A‑C). CalPERS retirement. Union affiliation with required dues. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in instructional systems or related field. Two years of responsible technical instructional technology experience. Understanding of diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, cultural backgrounds, disabilities, and sexual orientations. Desired Qualifications Experience providing audiovisual and event technology support in higher education, performing arts, conferences, or corporate events. Experience operating, configuring, troubleshooting audiovisual systems (projection, sound reinforcement, video conferencing, digital signage, classroom technology). Experience coordinating live events, meetings, performances, commencements, and special events. Experience with control systems such as Q‑SYS, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, or similar. Experience supporting Zoom, Microsoft Teams, lecture capture, livestreaming, and hybrid event technologies. Experience with desktop/laptop computers, instructional software, and related classroom/equipment technology. Experience maintaining audiovisual and computing equipment inventories and coordinating equipment deployment, replacement, and lifecycle management. Exceptional customer service and technical support skills in fast‑paced, customer‑facing environments. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: Basic instructional technology systems related to the assignment area. Operational characteristics of instructional technology (computers, mobile devices, audiovisual, network and communication systems). Testing, troubleshooting, problem solving, and maintenance methods for hardware and software. Advanced troubleshooting techniques for computers, mobile devices, audiovisual, network and communication systems. Project management and workflow processes. Ability to troubleshoot, identify source, diagnose, and develop solutions for problems in the assignment area. Install, maintain, repair, modify computer equipment, software, audiovisual, communications, and electronic systems. Train less experienced staff. Write procedures and documentation. Provide instructional technology hardware and software support. Communicate technical issues to individuals with varying IT knowledge. Organize and manage multiple priorities. Provide on‑call service during off‑hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. Use sound judgment and maintain attendance. Follow safety procedures. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Relate effectively with people of varied backgrounds using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy. Establish effective, cooperative relationships with others. Duties and Responsibilities Plan, prioritize, and review work of staff assigned to IT support duties. Develop schedules and methods to accomplish assignments efficiently. Evaluate staff activities and recommend improvements. Coordinate and provide staff training; assist employees to correct deficiencies. Implement and maintain remote support systems for faculty and staff computers. Provide assistance with desktop and server technologies. Perform complex implementation and maintenance of district client‑server technologies. Build and maintain positive relationships with co‑workers, district employees, and the public.
