Position SummaryLay out, assemble and install piping systems and piping supports for industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and reading and understanding blueprints. Select type of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to specifications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Support a philosophy of zero accidents by following all applicable safety procedures and maintaining equipment to operate in the safest way possibleMeasure and mark pipe for cutting and threading according to specificationsCut pipe using saws, pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe cutting machinesThread pipe using pipe threading machineAssemble and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plasticConnect pipes using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand toolsSecure piping to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power toolsInspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methodsSupport the Manufacturing/Engineering department on improvement projectsSupport the efforts of Lean and Continuous Improvement teamsAdhere to company policies, procedures, and rulesCreate and maintain a safe and sanitary working environmentMaintain a positive, team-oriented attitudeProcess inspection, certification, and documentationPerform other duties as assigned by the area supervisorMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)High school diploma, or equivalent3-5 years minimum of related work experience in a manufacturing environmentRole requires schedule flexibility to meet changing production demands, including potential shift adjustmentsKnowledge of machines, tools, their uses benefits and maintenancePosition Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Good written/oral communication skills and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and modelsKnowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, assets and techniques used for maximizing the manufacturing of products maximizing the manufacturing of productsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
