Experienced Mobile Mammography Van Driver & Setup Assistant
Service Area: Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, and Chicago Metro/Cook County, Illinois.
Employment Type : Part-time, temporary W-2 employee.
Schedule: Primarily Saturday mornings.
Estimated Hours: Approximately 2–3 hours per Saturday.
Assignment Length: Approximately 13 weeks.
Pay Range: Starting from $15/hour commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Role
A mobile breast cancer screening program is seeking an experienced Mobile Mammography Van Driver and Setup Assistant to safely relocate, prepare, and secure a mobile mammography unit at scheduled service locations throughout Illinois.

This is a part-time, hands-on position for someone with previous experience driving and setting up a mobile mammography van, mobile medical unit, or similar healthcare vehicle. The driver will be responsible for moving the unit to its next scheduled location, completing the required setup, and confirming that the van is ready for the clinical team.

Schedule and Travel:
For approximately the first seven weeks of the assignment, the van will be relocated every Saturday morning to a new service location within the Springfield and Champaign-Urbana area.

At the end of that period, the driver will complete one longer-distance relocation from Central Illinois to the Chicago Metro/Cook County area.

For approximately the following six weeks, the van will continue to be moved to a new location within the Chicago Metro/Cook County area each Saturday morning.

Each Saturday shift is expected to take approximately 2–3 hours, including driving, positioning, setup, and securing the unit.

The driver must also be available for one additional midweek move on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, beginning at approximately 5:30–6:00 p.m. and lasting a few hours.

Exact reporting times and locations will be provided in advance and may vary based on clinic schedules, traffic, site access, and operational needs.

Responsibilities:

• Safely drive the mobile mammography van between scheduled service locations.
• Move the van to a new location each Saturday during the assignment.
• Complete the longer-distance relocation from Central Illinois to the Chicago Metro/Cook County area.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Safely position and park the van at each site.
• Complete the required setup and preparation of the mobile unit.
• Connect and disconnect approved electrical power and other external systems.
• Set up steps, handrails, cones, signage, and accessibility equipment.
• Confirm that doors, cabinets, equipment, and loose items are properly secured.
• Check fuel levels, tires, fluids, warning indicators, and general vehicle condition.
• Keep the driver area, entrance, exterior, and non-clinical areas clean and organized.
• Report maintenance concerns, damage, delays, site-access issues, or safety concerns promptly.
• Communicate with the operations and clinical teams regarding arrival, setup completion, and vehicle status.
• Follow all company vehicle, safety, and mobile-unit procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid standard driver's license.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Previous experience driving, moving, setting up, and preparing a mobile mammography van, mobile medical unit, or comparable healthcare vehicle.
• Familiarity with mobile-unit electrical connections, entry systems, accessibility equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to independently follow established setup and breakdown instructions.
• Availability every Saturday morning for the full assignment.
• Availability on the evening of August 25, 2026.
• Ability to complete the longer-distance drive from Central Illinois to the Chicago area.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb steps, bend, reach, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, communication, and attention to safety.
• Ability to use GPS, email, mobile applications, and basic electronic reporting tools.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to complete company-specific vehicle and safety training.

• Ability to pass required background and motor vehicle record screenings.

• Reliable transportation to and from the van's scheduled starting and ending locations.

• Flexibility when timing changes are required due to traffic, weather, or clinic operations.
