Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Department: Engineering • Location: Pasadena, TX • Work Schedule: Standard (Monday – Friday) • Work Status: Exempt • Union: STOT Core Job Responsibilities Establish design criteria for mechanical data sheets, prepare mechanical specifications, evaluate bids, and manage contracts for all tagged mechanical equipment on the project. Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection with supportive material. Collect, assimilate, and manage data for mechanical engineering work. Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis. Demonstrate superior engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines and construction. Work with client to resolve mechanical problems. Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA safety rules. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering as needed. Essential Qualifications 7+ years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial design. Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering school. Licensed Professional Engineer preferred but not required. Previous relevant EPC company experience. Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering and design and familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with procurement, project controls, construction project managers, and clients. Proven track record of accomplishment as a design engineer on industrial projects. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish respect and credibility through actions, communications, understanding, and personal presence. Ability to work with others to achieve job goals. Physical Requirements Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Sit for long periods of time. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects. Environment Remote and onsite work. Visits to job sites may be required on occasion as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
