Job Description

Reports to: Director of Interconnection

A growing developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects is

seeking a highly motivated Senior Interconnection Engineer to support an expanding

portfolio of solar and battery storage assets across multiple North American power markets.

This role offers the opportunity to take a lead technical position on complex interconnection

and transmission initiatives while contributing to a fast-paced development platform.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Interconnection, the Senior Interconnection Engineer is

responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of utility-scale generation and energy storage

projects. Key responsibilities include leading interconnection studies, performing advanced

power flow and transmission analyses, supporting application strategy, and coordinating with

utilities, transmission providers, and market operators.

This role provides technical leadership across multiple projects and serves as a key resource

during development, execution, and construction phases of the interconnection process.

Essential Functions

• Manage and support assigned projects through all development stages, coordinating

with transmission providers, market operators, internal teams, consultants, and

external stakeholders.

• Perform and lead power flow modeling, interconnection studies, economic

assessments, and utility coordination to identify optimal project sizing and siting

opportunities.

• Conduct transmission analyses to evaluate system constraints, congestion exposure,

curtailment risk, and basis risk.

• Review interconnection study results and validate assumptions, inputs, and outputs.

• Support preparation and submission of interconnection applications and required

technical data.

• Assist in review and negotiation of interconnection agreements, including technical

exhibits and specifications.

• Lead development and technical review of single-line diagrams and interconnection

facility designs.

• Develop and maintain project schedules and milestones aligned with overall

development and construction timelines.

• Monitor engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities

related to interconnection facilities.

• Participate in technical meetings with ISOs, utilities, and counterparties, and

communicate impacts internally.

• Support generator registration activities with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory

agencies.• Assist with compliance efforts involving ISO, NERC, FERC, and other applicable

regulatory bodies.

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in power systems, or

Computer Engineering.

• 2+ years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or power

market analysis within the energy industry.

• Experience with PowerWorld, PSS®E, PLEXOS, or similar power system modeling

tools preferred.

• Ability to independently perform interconnection and transmission analyses with

limited supervision.

• Familiarity with generator interconnection processes, especially in organized

wholesale markets such as ERCOT, MISO, or similar regions preferred.

• Working knowledge of reliability, stability, congestion, curtailment, and locational

pricing concepts.

• Programming experience, particularly Python, preferred.

• Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
