About the Facility - Whiteriver Service Unit
The Whiteriver Indian Hospital is located at Whiteriver, AZ on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. The hospital is located about three miles north of Whiteriver and serves approximately 17,000 tribal members and other Native American communities around the area. Whiteriver hospital is designated as a Baby Friendly Hospital. The hospital is the Joint Commission accredited and staffed by 22 physicians, podiatrist, five nurse practitioners, five dentists, two optometrists and about 79 nursing staff members and is a 40-bed facility. This facility provides general medical, pediatrics, alcohol treatment, mental health, obstetric services and ambulatory surgery.

Primary Care Physician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Shall serve as a Medical Officer (Family Practice/Internal Medicine/Pediatrics/Med-Peds), which involves performance of Outpatient Medical Treatment for surgical and medical care services at Whiteriver Indian Hospital, or at Cibecue Health Center, both located in Whiteriver, Arizona.
• Will provide direct care and services in the area of Outpatient Primary Care Medicine.
• ssignments include providing comprehensive and continuing health and medical care services for adult and pediatric patients. Although not all candidates need to be skilled in the care of pregnant and post-partum women, preference will be given to those with these skills.
• Will interview and examine any and all patients presenting to the outpatient clinic. Will review past medical history, and immediately request and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each use.
• Will make diagnosis, direct, prescribe or provide treatment, or arrange for specialized care or patient transfer as required. Physicians base medical decisions upon information obtained and professional medical knowledge and skills. Will make notes of observations and incorporate these into clinical records.

Primary Care Physician - REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Must have completed a Family Medicine residency, an Internal Medicine residency, or a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency.
• Licensure: A current, valid, unrestricted license from any state is honored.
• Certification: Must be board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) is also required.
