Event Coordinator

Ensuring the smooth execution of events, banquets, and conferences in the convention center and outdoor amphitheater. Responsibilities will include setting up and breaking down event spaces, maintaining cleanliness and organization, assisting with food and beverage service, and providing exceptional customer service to the guests.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Setting up banquet equipment for Food and Beverage events, and meeting rooms as specified on Banquet Event Orders.
• Setting chairs, tables, linens, risers, steps, podiums and all necessary banquet equipment requested for group events and meetings, in set ups.
• Upon the conclusion of banquet events/meetings; breaking down equipment, returning equipment to storage areas, or re-setting room, as necessary.
• Maintaining, cleaning, and storing banquet equipment in provided storage areas.
• Maintaining, cleaning and organizing banquet equipment and linen storage rooms.
• Prepping, maintaining, and cleaning amphitheater concession areas.
• Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Performing other work-related duties as assigned.
• Serving as the initial point of contact for guest inquiries in a courteous and attentive manner.
• Reflecting a sense of trust, comfort and understanding by demonstrating empathy for guests when problems occur.
• Resolving all issues in a timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction and exceeding expectations.
• Possessing knowledge and understanding of all products and services offered.

Key performance indicators (KPI's) will be shared to all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI's as part of the performance review process.

• Ability to follow verbal directions as given by Banquet Captain and Convention Center Manager.
• Organizational skills.
• Maintains the highest standard of personal hygiene.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

Education and experience preferred:

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
• Some experience with banquet event operations.
• Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations:

• Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
• Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Physical requirements/working conditions:

• Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
• Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
• Crawling - Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
• Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outside work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching. Must be able to lift, push or pull 50-100 lbs. Specific required movements include the following: Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry. Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate. Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate. Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
