Supervisory Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing)

The Supervisory MST functions as a first-level supervisor responsible for the oversight of a group of MSTs - with administrative responsibility for planning and directing the work within SPS. The incumbent must be familiar with all of the duties performed in SPS as well as standard operating procedures and manufacturers guidelines. The Supervisory MST is a subject matter expert and has experience in all highly complex processes regarding RMD to determine effectiveness of the staff. Duties Duties include but not limited to: The Supervisory MST functions as a first-level supervisor responsible for the oversight of a group of MSTs - with administrative responsibility for planning and directing the work This includes developing duty assignments based on staffing levels - workload and priorities within the department Reviewing subordinates work to adjust assignments and to evaluate learning needs Oversees attendance and leave - including approval of sick and annual leave and vacation schedules Informs higher level management of anticipated vacancies or increases in workload Recommends promotions - reassignments - recognition of superior performance - retention or release of probationary employees or other changes of assigned personnel Holds corrective interviews with employees - referring disciplinary problems to higher levels of management Resolves informal complaints of employees and deals with union representatives on personnel matters Will address - investigate and resolve employee problems and complaints - provide instruction - guidance and direction to the SPS staff under their direct supervision Provides technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the organizational unit Will coordinate all operations - priorities and procedures on a daily basis within Service Processing Service Will resolve informal customer complaints and follow up as necessary The incumbent will have knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as required by this position The incumbent will be required to maintain current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning - disinfection - sterilization and preparation of RME appropriate to this position The incumbent will be able to demonstrate their ability to utilize an acceptable proficiency in the use of RME appropriate to this position .The employee works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Chief with supervision from the Chief of SPS Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions Consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans - their representatives - visitors and all VA staff) in a courteous - tactful - and respectful manner Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately Benefits Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 3:30pm-12:00am Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave – 13 days of sick leave – 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual based on prior work experience or military service experience Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment – up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth – adoption – or foster care placement of a child Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment – full time employees with a total family income below $144‑000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Functional Statement #: 30721‑F Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized Appraised Value Offer (AVO): Not Authorized #J-18808-Ljbffr
