On Call LVN Runner Per Diem

About the Role:

Newport Hospice is looking for a compassionate and dedicated On Call LVN Runner to join our team in Orange County. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients and families during their most critical moments, providing skilled nursing support when it matters most.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to on-call patient needs promptly, providing skilled nursing care in home and facility settings
• Conduct patient assessments and report changes in condition to the supervising RN or physician
• Administer medications, wound care, and other treatments as directed by the care plan
• Provide comfort-focused, palliative care in alignment with hospice philosophy
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary hospice team members
• Document patient visits, observations, and interventions accurately and in a timely manner
• Offer emotional support and education to patients and families during end-of-life care

Requirements:

• Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of California
• Prior hospice, home health, or palliative care experience preferred
• Ability to work flexible on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and families
• Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation required
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to end-of-life care
